Tourists coming to the BIG APPLE looking for a little fun ‘n excitement need look no further than a big, new, fancy hotel in Manhattan’s Lower East Side neighborhood, where — allegedly — the windows are large and clear enough to see all the variations of sex going on inside the rooms.
According to a scathing investigation from the New York Post, which is forever and always On The Case, tenants of a public-housing building at 10 Stanton St. are complaining that they can see guests at the Public hotel having sex from the quiet safety of their homes. “Guys are together, girls and girls are together. They don’t even pull the shades down,” said 68-year-old Leonor Fernandez to the Post.
Residents of 10 Stanton St. complain that guests are often doin’ it right there in the window as opposed to the bed, where they might be a bit more hidden. “You see them having sex all the time, hands on the window,” 26-year-old tenant Melissa Santos told the Post. “Not like I’m a peeping Tom, but from the corner of my eye, you can see this going on four times a week.”
At a recent tenant association meeting, the subject of all the sex happening across the street was raised. “People are seeing people having sex — they don’t even close their blinds,” one tenant said. “There are 44 apartments in that back, and these people are subjected to noise, nudity, smoking — it’s ridiculous.”
Aside from the hotel rooms, the Public also has what appears to be a somewhat noisy rooftop bar. According to city records obtained by DNA Info, there have been 47 noise complaints lodged against the hotel since it opened on June 6.
The Public has yet to comment on any of the allegations that their rooms are simply too visible to the public, though a Manhattan-based lawyer told the Post there’s no real course for legal action. The neighbors are just gonna have to avert their eyes.
